Our History

This program is rooted in the wisdom of my mother and in my baby girl’s group of middle school friends.

FROM MY CHILDHOOD MEMORY:

When I was a teenager, I would cry to my mom that “they” were lying about me.

My mother’s response was always the same: “You must really be something because they are always thinking about you. Because, in order for them to be talking about you, you have to be on their mind.  Do you think about them?”

 I said “No.”

Wisdom learned from my Mama:

a) What others think of you is none of your business, especially if they do not know you (can you say social media commenters????).

b) If you are busy doing what you enjoy, then you don’t have time to be bothered about what others are saying about you.

FROM MY BABY GIRL’S MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE:

My baby girl and her group of friends were the “smart kids” in middle school.  They were the first middle school class in Pasadena Unified School District that advanced to Geometry in 8th grade.  They were envied, popular, and not bullied!

What???   Smart kids not bullied???  How did that not happen???

In retrospect, there was probably some bullying.  However, they did not notice because they were busy doing the various activities that they enjoyed and social media was not a thing yet. While social media may not have been a thing, social circles and social culture was still influential

Wisdom learned:

If you are busy doing you, you don’t have time to be concerned about everyone else.

Wisdom observed in both scenarios:

If you are busy ‘doing’, you don’t have time to be caught up in ‘viewing’! When you pursue the interests that bring joy and purpose to your life, “ain’t nobody got time for that” (hater-ism).

Completing G.I.R.L.S. will absolutely, positively shift girls’ lives in the best possible way.  Girls will like themselves more, appreciate themselves more, value themselves more, love themselves more, and cherish who they are!!

Our GIRLS

While there are an abundance of programs that guide girls towards their inward talents, strengths, and light, unfortunately, the reality is that far too many girls today do not have the reliable, positive, support systems to teach, encourage, and carry them.  This leaves grand-canyon gaps in their self-development.  Before girls can carry their talents, strengths, and light, they must first be able to recognize them.

G.I.R.L.S. fills in the grand-canyon sized gaps with a curriculum that enables girls to recognize and identify their individual light and to let that light shine bright.

While G.I.R.L.S. is designed for girls, elementary through high school, women of all ages can benefit from the program lessons.
